“Sometimes it’s not about the destination, but about the journey itself.” ~ Anonymous
This is my last and final post on my 5-day road trip to Kutch taken in December 2014; a road trip full of personal 1sts that I would be happy to turn into 2nds. Uncut, here are some images which did not make it to my eight blog posts on the region but summarize my journey just as eloquently. The other eight posts are:
- palaces of bhuj and mandvi
- than monastery of the slit ear yogis, and fossils of kutch
- koteshwar temple, kutch: an 1820 ode to shiva
- the 4,500 year old harappan site of dholavira, kutch
- temples of bhuj: the grand and the familial
- lakhpat: kutchβs ghost town of millionaires and saints
- the 18th century kamangari wall paintings of kutch
- white desert of kutch: one rann, many faces
Enjoy. π

The Kutch Express sleeper train, from Bandra Terminus to Bhuj

Leaving Mumbai behind …

Bhajiya for breakfast, everyday, in Bhuj

Transport all shapes and sizes around the Great Rann, which I did not take

The best mava in the world is sold here, on the highway returning from Than monastery !

Cutting chai at every stop

Aligned to the Tropic of Cancer, on the way to Dholavira

My friend at Lakhpat

Left: Swaminarayan bhakt at the temple in Bhuj; Right: Osho restaurant in Mandvi, an institution in itself

Lord Ganesh on the mantlepiece of our SUV. For safe, happy journeys π
